Shopping and Dining

We begin our virtual tour of Glendale's shopping and dining extravaganza in what is affectionately called Historic Downtown Glendale, where the eclectic heartbeat of the city originates.

The 10-square-block downtown area is divided into two distinct neighborhoods: Old Towne, containing sidewalks trimmed with bricks, and wonderfully anachronistic gaslights bathing the streets with gold as you meander through the antique shops and ethnically diverse eateries; and Historic Catlin Court, containing majestically tall and mature trees, providing sun-dappled shade for the bungalows with white picket fences that have been transformed into specialty shops.

There are so many exceptional local retailers and restaurants downtown that it would be unfair to mention some and exclude others. Luckily Glendale's Convention & Visitors Bureau provides us with a highly detailed map, containing specific directions, street names, restaurants, shops, ATMs, and all kinds of other cool stuff, which you can get simply by clicking here.

When you're in the mood for some mall shopping, Glendale's got you covered there too. Just head on over to the beautiful Arrowhead Towne Center, which you'll find just off the Loop 101 highway. Housing more than 170 retailers and eateries, a couple of water fountains and a movie theater, Arrowhead Towne Center is one of the region's biggest malls. Be sure to also check out Westgate City Center for an outdoor shopping and dining experience. Choose from such dining options as Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon, among many others. Not only will you have an exceptional array of shopping and dining options to choose from, but you'll also be able to take in a movie at the AMC Theatres. Just across from Westgate City Center you can visit Cabela's for all your outdoor sporting needs. On top of that, the Westgate City Center is located next to Arena, which is home to the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes and it's also adjacent to the University of Phoenix Stadium, which is home to the NFL's Arizona Cardinals.
